Bite Sized Mini Uttapam’s

Sharing is caring!

It’s difficult to feed children’s. Even if you cook them 7 different types of foods they won’t eat. Sometimes they really do not want to and sometimes just some tantrum’s. Phew…don’t want to start my cribbing on this at all J. Super active children do not want to sit and eat. (This were words of my pediatrician). They don’t want to stop playing or doing whatever activity they are doing currently. So at this times, finger or bite size foods are the best. Just keep the food near them or the area they are playing and leave J. They will grab if they want to eat and if they don’t want no worries, all the best for your next try.

When I make food for children, I try to make different shapes so that it is attractive to them. I wanted to make this bite size mini uttapam’s but was wondering how can I make it more appealing. first I thought of cheese, but that is usual. I did not had vegetables on that day so was literally wondering what can I do. Then suddenly remembered I have corn and green peas in my freezer. Then I turn this mini uttapam’s into cute little monster’s. More than children’s me and my husband were interested. When My husband saw this he said, wow this is so nice. (He does not like peas, so now you know how can you feed elders too 🙂 🙂 ).Cutting it short, Recipe below. And yeah one last thing, I am sending this recipe for our blogging marathon kid’s event.

So here goes the recipe:

Ingredients

  • Dosa Batter (1 cup – I made around 10-12 from this).
  • 1 tablespoon of boiled and cooled corn
  • 1 tablespoon of boiled and cooled peas
  • 1 tomato sliced into shape shown below (basic thin strips to create mouth)
  • Oil for shallow frying

Preparation

    1. Cut the tomatoes as shown below.

    1. Heat a Dosa pan.
    2. Once hot, pour 1 tablespoon of mixture in the pan to form 2 inch circles.
    3. One can make 3-4 at once depending on your pan size.

    1. Turn the flame/gas on slow and start decorating the uttapam’s
    2. First position the tomato slice to form a mouth.
    3. Then add corn kernels to form teeth.
    4. Then green peas for eyes.

  1. Cover the pan and let it cook on a slow flame/gas, and drizzle some oil on the sides. We are not going to flip it as the monster face will be spoiled. So let it cook on slow.
  2. Once done serve it with tomato ketchup or as is.

One can use any other vegetable as one like and decorate the way they like, I just used what I had.
