Air Fryer Masala Peanuts

Air Fryer Masala Peanuts are a spicy, crunchy, and addictive protein-rich tea-time snack made using gluten-free gram flour, spices, and a tablespoon of oil.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Gram Flour - Besan
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Raw Mango Powder - Amchoor powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 2-3 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • In a large bowl add the peanuts. Clean for any impurities.

  • In a large bowl sift in the gram flour.
  • Add all the remaining ingredients except water.
    1/4 cup Gram Flour, 1 teaspoon Red chili powder, 1 teaspoon Raw Mango Powder, 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon asafoetida, 1 teaspoon Garam Masala, 1 teaspoon Salt, 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
    Masala added to peanuts and flour.
  • Peanuts added to Gram flour.
  • Mix everything.
  • Now slowly add a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of oil at a time and coat all the ingredients well into the peanuts.

  • Allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • After 10-15 minutes preheat the air fryer to 180 Deg C / 356 Deg F.
  • Preheating air fryer at 180 Deg C / 356 Deg F, should take 3-4 minutes depending on the size.
  • It is best to preheat to have the crispy texture.
  • Give the peanut mixture another mix.

  • Once the air fryer is preheated, spread the peanut mixture on the air fryer basket.

  • Spread it evenly.
  • Do not overcrowd and break if there are any lumps.
  • Air fry it at 180 Deg C for 8 minutes initially, checking after 4 minutes.
  • After 4 minutes, stir the peanuts with the help of a spoon upside down.
  • Air fry again for the remaining 4 minutes.
  • After 8 minutes do check if they appear golden brown, if not air fry for further 4-5 minutes in intervals of 1-2 minutes.
  • Do check after every 1-2 minutes, as they get burnt easily if overdone.
  • They might appear a bit soft, but they will be crispy once cooled.
  • Store it in a clean air-tight container

Notes

  • Standard US Size cups and spoons are used. 1 cup = 237 ml, 1 teaspoon = 5 ml
  • The time required to bake in an air fryer might differ depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Spices can be adjusted as per taste.

  • Asafoetida (Hing) powder available in shops contains wheat and is not gluten-free. Gluten-intolerant people can either skip it completely or opt for Gluten Free Asafoetida (Hing)
