Baked Jackfruit Rags Fries

Baked Jackfruit Rags Fries are a crunchy, delicious and addictive munching snacks made using Rags of Ripe Jackfruit. One of the best recipes which uses food waste.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Ripe Jackfruit Rags
  • 2 tablespoon Rice Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Clean the Jackfruit Rags. They would be hard on one side where it would be attached. Discard that.

  • Cut the left out Rags into thin strips.

  • Add Rice Flour, Chilli powder and salt.
    2 tablespoon Rice Flour, 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder, Salt

  • Mix everything and let it sit for 10 minutes.

  • In the meantime, preheat the oven to 180 Deg C. Arrange a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • After 10 minutes you will find that the Jackfruit Rags have released some water and the flour has coated to the rags.
    After 10 minutes the Rags have released water and the flour, salt and red chilly are well coated.
  • Spread the rags on the tray and let this bake for 15 minutes, turning in between.

  • Then drizzle the oil on the rags and give a quick mix so that the oil is coated. This step is optional, but it adds a nice crunch to the Jackfruit rags.
    1 teaspoon Oil
  • Now bake again for 5-10 minutes or until they are nice and crunchy.
  • Be careful they might over bake and burn. But let them go a bit brown as they would taste better and will be crunchy.

Notes

  • 1 Cup = 235 ml, 1 tbsp= 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml
  • Keep an eye on the rags, as the baking time will vary, depending how how it is cut and the oven temperature.
  • One can even fry them instead of baking.
