Daliya and Split Green Moong Dal Khichdi | Broken Wheat & Split Green Lentils Khichdi

Daliya and Split Green Moong Dal Khichdi is a delicious, healthy and a protein rich one pot meal , loaded with vegetables and with the goodness of lentils.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 Cup Daliya (Broken Wheat)
  • 0.5 Cup Split Green Moong Dal
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee (Clarified Butter) More for topping up if required
  • 1 tsp Jeera Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/4 Cup Green Peas
  • 1/4 Cup Carrots
  • 1-2 Tomatoes chopped or pureed
  • 1/4 inch chopped or grated ginger
  • 3 cup Water If you want it more liquid add 1 cup more water
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Wash and soak the Green Moong Dal for 15-30 minutes.
  • In a pressure cooker , add in the Ghee.
  • Once hot add in the asafoetida and Jeera. Once the Jeera crackles add the vegetables, ginger and turmeric. Give it a quick stir.
  • If using green chilies add it.
  • Add in the Daliya and Green Dal, salt to taste and 3 cups of water.
  • Let it cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • Once the pressure settles, Serve hot with yogurt, pickle or papad.

Notes

  • 1 teaspoon = 5 ml, 1 tablespoon=15 ml, 1 Cup=235 ml
  • Any combination of vegetables can be used of they can be skipped
  • The daliya takes a minimum of 3 times of water so do not add less water.
