Kidney Bean Patties Wraps

Kidney Bean Patties Wraps are protein-rich and a healthy lunchbox wrap for kids.

Ingredients

For Kidney bean patties

  • 2 cup cooked Red Kidney Beans
  • 1 medium size or 1 Cup boiled and mashed/grated potatoes
  • ¼ cup of fresh coriander
  • 1 small onion chopped roughly
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder -Optional or as per taste
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt
  • 1//2 - 1 cup oats powder or soya mince or bread crumbs
  • Oil for shallow frying

To assemble wraps

  • Wraps as required
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Butter
  • Garlic cheese sauce/cheese sauce - Any type of sauces
  • Sriracha sauce or chili sauce -optional
  • Tomato ketchup

Instructions

For Kidney bean patties

  • In a food processor add the cooked kidney beans, coriander, onion, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
    2 cup cooked Red Kidney Beans, ¼ cup of fresh coriander, 1 small onion chopped roughly, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, Salt
    Ingredients to make the patties.
  • Process it until it resembles a fine mince.
    Minced Ingredients.
  • Take the mixture to a bowl.
  • Add grated or mashed potatoes and mix everything.

  • Ready Mixture.
  • Slowly add the oats powder or soya mince or bread crumbs little by little. Give it a mix and check if you are able to form patties.

  • Add more oats powder or soya mince if required or if you feel the mixture is too wet.
  • Divide the mixture into lime size balls.
    Shaped into patties.
  • Form into a round shape and slightly flatten them in between your palms.

  • Refrigerate the patties for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Shallow frying the patties

  • In a pan add 2-3 tablespoons of oil.

  • Once hot, add in the patties.
  • Cook it on medium on both sides.
  • Press gently with the back of a spoon and cook on both sides until done.
  • One can air fry the patties for 10 minutes at 180 Deg C.

To assemble the wrap

  • Let the patties cool completely.
  • Slightly cook the wrap on both sides.

  • Spread butter and sauces on the wrap. I use garlic cheese and sriracha sauce.

  • Then arrange some lettuce leaves in the middle.

  • Take 2 patties, and break them into 2 pieces.
  • Spread the patties on the wraps

  • Drizzle some tomato ketchup on top.

  • Grab one edge of the wrap and make a tight roll.

  • Cut this wrap into two and wrap it in foil or pack it in your lunchbox.

Notes

  • Standard US Size cups and spoons are used. 1 cup = 237 ml, 1 teaspoon = 5 ml
  • 1 Cup of dried kidney beans will make 3 cups of soaked.
  • The patties freeze well, read above on instructions for storage.
