Pearl Barley Pulao

Pearl Barley pulao is a simple, healthy and delicious one pot meal. Barley is one of the most healthy grain and was one of the principal grains in ancient India. Sadly we do not use it a lot in cooking. I am not sure why, may be its appearance or we have forgotten how to use it. Fortunately more and more people are turning towards healthier alternatives. And such lost healthy grains are finding its way to our kitchen’s.

Pearl Barley Pulao

I have earlier made this Pearl Barley and Mung Dal Khichdi and hence was a bit sure that it will taste good. So, I decided to make this quick and easy Pearl Barley Pulao with the ingredients available in my home. I did precooked the barley but you can throw all the ingredients at once in a pot and let it cook in a pressure cooker or an Instant pot or an open pan. I just did to save some time and have it ready when I need it.

You can use any combination of vegetables as you like. I have adapted this to my Indian taste buds by sauteing the onion along with green chilly and red chilly. The end result was a lip smacking and a tasty dish which I enjoyed for my dinner on its own.
