Spiced with red paprika, garlic, onion, chili, salt, and oregano, these Easy Spicy Jackfruit Tacos are perfect for taco nights or meatless Mondays.
These Spicy Jackfruit Tacos are Vegan, Gluten-Free, and dairy-free. If you add sauce the dietary suggestions would change depending on the type used.
These tacos are not only a good replacement for beef or pork tacos but are also super easy to make. All you do is season the jackfruit with spices, and cook until done. Add it to the tacos and serve. Adding fresh veggies or dips is your choice.
Using Frozen Green Jackfruit for tacos
I love jackfruit but unfortunately do not get it fresh here and cleaning jackfruit is not easy. So I buy the frozen jackfruit. I do not like the tin version as it has some brine taste to it. So I get this frozen green or ripe jackfruit whichever I like to eat.
I had this in my freezer and when Camilla from Culinary Cam asked us to make a recipe for tacos I thought to make this Vegan Easy Spicy Jackfruit Taco.
Healthy Moong Sprouts Taco
I do make my tacos healthy by using my moong sprouts and chaat filling, something like this in this Baked Bread Katori Chaat. I soak the moong beans sprout it and then use it as a filling for tacos. Top it up with yogurt, green coriander chutney, and tamarind chutney and you have one yummy appetizer ready. Unfortunately, I have not shared the recipe, but will share it soon.
Earlier I used even to cook the taco shells. I used to fry them, and now I need to bake them, but at times the easy option for me was to buy them.
I have never tasted jackfruit tacos but I have heard about it a lot. So I was not sure of the taste. I thought to give it a go as I know how spicy jackfruit will taste like. And yes, it worked. To my surprise, even hubby ate it and we had a nice quick lunch for us.
Sauce for Jackfruit
The sauce is completely optional, but I wanted to add some. I wanted to make avocado sauce but unfortunately, my avocado turned out bad. So was looking for something different and then made another new recipe. Yes, I made a cottage cheese sauce with red peppers that perfectly complemented the jackfruit tacos.
Non-vegan cottage cheese and pepper sauce
The cottage cheese sauce here is not vegan and if you want a vegan sauce, try this Avocado Basil dip instead or simply skip the sauce it is good without it too.
Ingredients used
Raw Green Jackfruit
I have used frozen raw green jackfruit. One can use the tin or fresh too.

I've heard jackfruit can be a convincing meat substitute - the recipes sounds interesting!
FYI - there's a huge banner blocking half the screen that I'm unable to minimize - I think you have an ad gone rogue

Renu, I have tasted jackfruit filled tacos in the US at a fusion restaurant and they taste so good. Unfortunately, I cannot make them at home as I don't get jackfruit unless I buy the canned one. Like how you added cottage cheese to the sauce.

I have seen people using jackfruit as a meat substitute, but have never tried it myself. I will have to fix that soon. Thanks for joining me.
