Pineapple is a delicious fruit, low in calories, and is loaded with essential nutrients. There are many ways to consume this fruit. Eat it raw, combine it with different fruits to make a smoothie or a salsa, chutney, sweet, Pickled Pineapple, or cook in different recipes.

I like to eat this raw, but at times I just get bored of the usual taste. So grilling and rubbing with the spice mix helps. Grilling any fruit releases its juices and the fruit tends to be sweeter and tastier. If you have not tried, try it and I bet you will do it again and again. Especially with pears and pineapple.

Most of the grilled pineapple recipes add more sugar to them. But I did not want any artificial sugar and also wanted to enjoy the natural sweetness. I wanted to give the grilled pineapple a kick, so thought of rubbing it with the peri-peri mix. Eureka, me and my husband enjoyed it as a mid-evening snack and a new healthy recipe was there for us.

Peri Peri Grilled Pineapple on a grilled pan

This easy grilled pineapple can be assembled very quickly. You can do it on a barbeque grill, in an oven or on a grill pan. I have tried it on the barbeque grill as well on a grill pan and it was perfect both the time. If you are using the charcoal barbeque it would add to flavour too.

As this is made using the peri-peri spice mix this grilled pineapple has a mix of spicy and sweet flavours. The spice comes from the peri-peri mix and the sweet from the juicy pineapple.

Another similar recipe where I use this peri-peri spice mix is for this Peri-Peri Grilled Sweet Potato. They are simple, easy, and delicious vegan appetizers or sides perfect for the grill.

Recipe process of Easy Peri-Peri Grilled Pineapple

The recipe is simple. All I did was grill the pineapple on a barbecue grill or on a grill pan without adding any oil. You can add it if you want, but if you do it on a medium-hot grill, the pineapple will start cooking and slowly release its juices. You just grill on both sides for 7-8 minutes in total until grill marks appear and it appears slightly cooked. Remove it from the grill and rub the spice mix on it.

To grill the pineapple I am not adding extra sugar. There is some sugar in the peri-peri spice mix, but you will not notice it as the spice mix is hot. So be sure to use it as per your taste and preference. Do not go overboard on rubbing the spice mix else it would be too hot.

Oh my gosh I'm going to have to make these when we next have a barbecue - I love pineapple and peri peri but never thought to combine the two!

OOOOhhhh Delicious! I love hot pineapple dishes. I have a barbecued version with rum and coconut on my site, but would never have thought of making a peri peri version. Inspired! xx
