Bajra and Split Green Moong Dal Khichdi

The way I love experimenting with my Idli’s I love experimenting with Khichdi’s. Reason being it is healthy and a quick one pot meal. One can make it healthier by adding vegetables or keep it simple yet healthy by using different grains, lentils , legumes etc. The possibilities are endless. So when I have shortlisted Bajra as one of the grains for this marathon. I decided to make this second gluten free dish with Bajra , that is Bajra and Green Moong Dal Khichdi

Bajra and Split Green Moong Dal Khichdi

I have already listed what is Bajra and its benefits in my earlier post on Bajra ka Bhat which is a one pot gluten free meal. I made this khichdi by adding another healthy ingredient Split Green Moong Dal. Green Moong Dal is high in fiber and protein and gets cooked very quickly. We need to combine this with some flavour rich ingredients as not everyone likes it mild and earthy flavour.

I decided to combine this with Bajra as again Bajra is not liked by everyone. Yes you would be like combining two ingredients which is not liked by all is not a good idea. But believe me the result is one of the yummiest khichdi I ever had. And both of my kids enjoyed too. I made this very simple, with a simple tadka along with green peas. I have not added any onion or garlic. But you can add it and also add vegetables of your choice.
