So what is Hummus?
Hummus is basically a dip or a spread. It is made using cooked chickpeas along with tahini, lemon juice and garlic. Tahini is nothing but a condiment made using Sesame seeds. Hummus is popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean Cuisine.
What can one eat with Hummus?
Hummus is a good snacking option for your mid morning or mid evening snacks. Just enjoy it as dips with your fruits or salads. Not to mention the best way to eat it is with Falafel, pita breads or chips and I am already drooling. One can even use it as a spread on crackers or breads. As for me, I can enjoy it as is directly. The possibilities are endless.

Ingredients used in Easy Golden Turmeric Hummus
Since the main ingredient of Hummus is Chickpeas, it is naturally low in carbs and rich in protein. An excellent and inexpensive alternative of meat and protein source for vegetarians and vegans.
The second main ingredient in this dish is Turmeric. Turmeric is one of the best anti-inflammatory and antioxidant known for its various health benefits. Turmeric is being used for ages in Asian cuisine and is also known for its cosmetic benefits. If you can get fresh Turmeric use that instead of Turmeric Powder.
The next main ingredient Sesame seeds is again a good source of protein and is naturally rich in fats. It helps promote good bone health and reduce inflammation. The other nutritious and low calorie ingredient is Fresh Garlic. It needs no introduction. It helps reduce cholesterol levels and can combat sickness such as cold. One can reduce the quantity of garlic if needed.
Rest I have used a blend of Sesame oil and Olive oil. I like the nuttier texture of sesame oil and hence used both. One can use either one or both. Smoked paprika and Black pepper gives it the needed kick. Fresh Lemon Juice is very critical for good quality hummus. Salt is added to taste.
So is this not a healthy, delicious and a low calorie spread that one can include in their daily diet. I have already made this Beetroot Hummus earlier and I was just eating it with everything I could. So without talking much I will straight head to the recipe.

The Theme
Ah last thing, before I forget I am sharing this with our Foodie Monday group where the #236 theme was Hummus Time. This theme was suggested by Kalyani from Sizzling Tastebuds. She wanted us to make some different types of Hummus. I am already in love with her lip smacking Indian Spice Roasted Carrot Hummus.
