Easy Golden Turmeric Hummus is a quick and easy hummus recipe with the goodness of protein-rich chickpeas, sesame seeds, and anti-inflammatory turmeric. Using a few ingredients from your pantry it is one of the healthiest, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free dip.

If one uses tinned chickpeas it becomes a no-cook recipe. However, I recommend making chickpeas from scratch as it is budget-friendly and preservative-free.

So what is Hummus?
Hummus is a dip or a spread. It uses cooked chickpeas along with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. Tahini is nothing but a condiment made using Sesame seeds. Hummus is popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean Cuisine.
Cooking chickpeas at home is very easy. Check out my post on how to cook chickpeas in an Instant Pot or stove-top pressure cooker from scratch.
What can one eat with Hummus?
Hummus is a good snacking option for your mid-morning or mid-evening snacks. Just enjoy it as a dip with your fruits or salads. Not to mention the best way to eat it is with Falafel, pita bread, or chips. One can even use it as a spread on crackers or breads. Spread it on your wraps or flatbreads, the possibilities are endless.

Ingredients used in Easy Golden Turmeric Hummus
The main ingredient of Hummus is Chickpeas. An excellent and inexpensive alternative to meat and protein source for vegetarians and vegans.
The second main ingredient in this dish is Turmeric. Turmeric is one of the best anti-inflammatory and antioxidants known for its various health benefits. Turmeric has been used for ages in Asian cuisine and is also known for its cosmetic benefits. If you can get fresh Turmeric use that instead of Turmeric Powder.
The next main ingredient Sesame seeds is again a good source of protein and is naturally rich in fats. It helps promote good bone health and reduce inflammation.
The other nutritious and low-calorie ingredient is Garlic. It needs no introduction. It helps reduce cholesterol levels and can combat sicknesses such as colds. One can reduce the quantity of garlic if needed.
Rest I have used a blend of Sesame oil and Olive oil. I like the nuttier texture of sesame oil and hence used both. One can use either one or both. Smoked paprika and Black pepper give it the needed kick. Fresh Lemon Juice is very critical for good quality hummus. Salt is added to taste.
I have now edited the recipe a little and started using Ice while blending. It makes the hummus texture very good and makes it soft and fluffy. I would suggest adding a few.
Hummus can be done with a lot of variations. I make it plain without any additions or add veggies or seeds. I make this Beetroot Hummus and it adds a nice color and nutrition to the hummus. And if you are looking for party ideas, where you need colorful food, three different hummus will definitely work.

The Theme
Ah last thing, before I forget I am sharing this with our Foodie Monday group where the #236 theme was Hummus Time. This theme was suggested by Kalyani from Sizzling Tastebuds. She wanted us to make some different types of Hummus. I am already in love with her lip-smacking Indian Spice Roasted Carrot Hummus.
