Ashtami thali is a simple and easy satvik thali that is usually prepared on the eighth day (Ashtami) or ninth ( Navmi) day of Navratri. It does not have any onion and garlic. It is a simple thali, but simply a comforting and heavenly meal.
What is in Ashtami Thali?
Typically, the thali would consist of Sooji Halwa, Puri, and Kale Sukhe chana. Aloo Saag and Bedai are also added most of the time and in my house, we do make it.
Enjoying this Ashtami thali, just brings all the memories and I thoroughly enjoy this every time we make it. We do celebrate Navratri 2 times a year. One is the Chaitra Navratri which starts on Gudi Padwa and also marks the beginning of the new year for Hindus. The other is the most popular sharad Navratri which is before Diwali.
Growing up, I have loads of memories of this Ashtami puja as we celebrated Navratri and Ashtami. I too make the thali on Ashtami and we enjoy this as a family. I have done this for 2-3 years. Now I just make it for my family, as not all young kids like to have it and I do not like to waste food.
I have another fasting or vrat thali on my blog. It is not Ashtami or Navami thali but thali for Indian fasts.
So here are the recipes for Ashtami or Bhog Thali
