Looking for inspiration for a healthy kids’ party or a weekend family brunch packed with their favorite treats? Try this wholesome and irresistible spread of waffles, pancakes, brownies, and a fruit sizzler.
Healthy Sizzling plate for kids
This sizzling plate is packed with nutritious ingredients while still including all the kids’ favorites. It features fresh fruits, vegan and gluten-free ragi brownies, whole wheat banana waffles and pancakes, and granola with milk. I’ve drizzled it with a chocolate sauce made from high-quality dark chocolate and fresh cream, keeping it both healthy and delicious.
My family and I absolutely loved this sizzler, and it was gone in minutes! The only thing that slowed them down was waiting for me to take pictures—it was a challenge with them eagerly hovering, waiting for me to finish! 😊
The first-ever Waffle, Pancake, Brownie, and Fruit Sizzler!
I’m thrilled to share that this dessert sizzler, or kids’ brunch sizzler, is the first of its kind that I’ve created. I couldn’t find anything like it online, so I’m especially proud of this unique dish. When I told my family about it, they were a bit puzzled—especially my husband, who’s quite a picky eater. But that just made the experience even more exciting!
I didn’t want to go with the usual sizzling plate—either savory or the popular options. I had several ideas in mind. The theme was a sizzling platter or thali, and I even had a thali post drafted. But deep down, I wanted to create a sizzler with a unique twist.
What is a sizzler?
A sizzler gets its name from the sizzling or hissing sound it makes when food is placed on a heated dish. This effect is created by heating a cast iron plate on the grill or stovetop, which is then served on a wooden base.
I’ve explained this in detail in my previous post on the Vegan Sizzler with Orange Sauce (Vegetables, Tofu, and Quinoa). That sizzler is also healthy and makes for a perfect meal.
Reviews of Waffle, pancake, Brownie and Fruit sizzler
My older child remarked that this sizzler was amazing, telling the younger one it included all our favorite treats while also being packed with healthy ingredients. My daughter’s reaction was a surprised, “What?!”—they were both pleasantly shocked.
I was initially skeptical about the chocolate-flavored granola, but they ended up asking for seconds, so my experiment was a success!
Kids can enjoy this sizzling plate directly from the dish, but just be cautious as the plate will be hot.
Why you should make this Waffle, Pancake, Brownie, and Fruit Sizzler
- “An Absolute Hit!”
This sizzler is a total crowd-pleaser! The combination of waffles, pancakes, brownies, and fresh fruit was a brilliant mix of flavors and textures. The chocolate sauce drizzled on top made it even more irresistible. My kids couldn’t get enough, and it’s now a must-have for our weekend brunches. - “Deliciously Different!”
This sizzler was a refreshing twist on the usual desserts. The balance between the wholesome ingredients like whole wheat banana waffles and the indulgence of the chocolate sauce was perfect. It was healthy, yet so satisfying—definitely something I’ll make again! - “A Brunch Game-Changer!”
This Waffle, Pancake, Brownie, and Fruit Sizzler was a game-changer for our family brunch. The sizzling hot plate brought out the best in each component, from the crispy waffles to the gooey brownies. The fresh fruits added a lovely burst of freshness, making this dish both delicious and nutritious. - “Unique and Unforgettable!”
I’ve never had anything like this before! The combination of waffles, pancakes, brownies, and fruit on a sizzling plate was genius. It was a hit with the entire family, even with my picky eater husband. I love how it’s both healthy and indulgent at the same time. - “A New Family Favorite!”
This sizzler has quickly become a family favorite. The mix of warm waffles, soft pancakes, rich brownies, and fresh fruits, all brought together with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, was simply heavenly. It’s a unique and delightful way to enjoy a dessert or brunch and some family time.
What is in my Waffle, pancake, Brownie, and Fruit sizzler plate?
Granola with chocolate-flavored milk
On a traditional sizzling plate, the bottom layer usually consists of cabbage leaves. However, for this unique twist, I decided to use granola with milk instead. I combined fresh cream and milk, then added dark chocolate and cocoa powder. To this, I mixed in my homemade granola with nuts, creating a delicious and unexpected base.
Eggless Whole Wheat Banana Waffles
The primary ingredient is Eggless whole-wheat banana waffles. You can find the waffle recipe here. I prepared these just before assembling the sizzling plate, but you can also make them ahead of time or even days in advance, as they freeze well.
Eggless whole-wheat banana pancakes
I used the same batter to make Eggless mini-pancakes. You can adjust the size to your preference or even use cookie cutters to shape them as desired. One can even make this Whole Wheat Chocolate Banana PanCake.
Vegan and Gluten-Free Ragi Brownie
I decided to include brownies because kids love cakes and cookies. To keep it healthy, I made my famous Chocolate Ragi Brownies. Don’t worry—kids will enjoy them and won’t even realize they’re a healthier option.
Few more Healthy recipes of cake or brownies you can replace or add
You could also try variations like Zucchini Chocolate whole wheat bread, Whole Wheat Kale Brownies, Fudgy Apple Brownies, Gluten-Free and Vegan Ragin Banana Cake, Chocolate Coconut Flour Cake, Whole-Wheat Double Chocolate Banana Bread, Whole Wheat Chocolate Avocado Banana Muffins, or any other healthy brownie recipe you prefer.
Fruits
I used pineapple, apples, and strawberries for this dish. I grilled the pineapple and apple pieces to enhance their flavors and add a delightful juiciness. If you haven’t tried grilling pineapple before, check out this Easy Peri-Peri Grilled Pineapple recipe—it’s a perfect choice for a barbecue!
I then coated the fruits in chocolate, knowing that kids love that, especially when it comes to chocolate-covered strawberries. Since I used a chocolate sauce made with cream rather than 100% chocolate, the chocolate glaze on the fruit is light and delicate.
Finally, I drizzled some chocolate sauce over everything for a touch of garnish and to enhance the presentation for photos.
