Tapioca or sago Yogurt Soup

This farali Kadhi is filling and helps keep your energy levels up when you are fasting especially during Indian fasts such as Navaratri, Mahashivratri, etc.

Typically kadhi is made using flour and yogurt. During fasting, only some flours are used, like rajgira or Amaranth etc. I already have a Farali Rajgira Kadhi recipe on the blog. However today instead of flour I thought to make it with this sago pearls.

Sabudana, Tapioca, or sago can be consumed during fasting. So instead of flour, I used this and made this delicious soup that goes well with any farali chila or paratha or as a side to your fasting thali. One can also enjoy this healthy yogurt soup as is.

Recipe process of Farali Sabudana Kadhi

This vrat ki Kadhi is quick and easy to make. And if you have soaked sabudana, it gets ready in 10-15 minutes. Yes, sabudana needs to be soaked. One can dry roast it, convert it into flour, and use it in kadhi if required. I have used the whole sabudana here.

So the recipe is quite simple. All I do is a little tempering of mustard and cumin seeds, and green chili in oil or ghee. Then add yogurt mixed with water. To this, I add the soaked sabudana and let it cook for a while until the sabudana is done.

I like the consistency of this upvas ki kadhi to be on the thicker side, but one can adjust as per their liking. Keep in mind that the sabudana will absorb liquid once done, and the soup will go thick.
